Location:
Along the eastern lands of War, placed near the massive mountain range that hides a winter wonderland on the other side. The Heart and Soul Cafe rests along a two sets of crossroads, and is the final building to grace an adventurer's eyes before they leave War, or the first as they enter ( if coming from or headed towards the east, that is ). Because of the proximity of the cafe to the mountains it is a somewhat chilly, or cooler, temperature year-round.
Outer Description; First Floor:
The large building is displayed prominently against the mountain range where only a few trees grow, and roads cut through in various intersections. Signs along the roads mark the cafe shortly before it enters sight. The building is two floors tall, made of concrete, and a simple square shape. Four windows light each side of the square, with green awnings above all sixteen. A large red stripe divides the building in half, with a smaller red line a foot above the first. The entrance protrudes from simple shape, made of red brick framing the doorway into the cafe and coming out three yards to make a small enclosure that is sealed by another door that leads in or out. Inside the small walkway the brick is lined with paintings, mostly of food. A shelve hangs just above the door, displaying a small cat sculpture. Above the brick and inside the stripe of red is more paint showing a bowl of fruit, with several pieces spilling out outlined in blue to pop out amongst the red. Underneath a pair of large trees polished wooden tables sit in the shade, with metal benches for seats. Beside the building is a small stage, and an area for a fire. Some nights the stage is used for entertainment and events.
Inner Description:
Upon opening the second door the floor turns to a white and black tile set. The first floor is divided into four sections. When first entering, you come to the first and smallest section: the waiting room. A hall walled by polished wood that let off at the ends to lead to other areas, with booth-seats pressed against either side that open up to a simple wood desk, with a white wall behind it. A door whose upper half has an inlaid glass picture of a flower is set in the white wall directly to the right of the desk. Larger paintings of tranquil water and forest scenes are displayed just above the height of someone waiting at a booth.
To the left behind the desk the hall opens into the second section: the non-smoking area. Polished black granite tables are spaced evenly throughout the large room, with black-red oak dining chairs with green upholstery. Booths and tables line the wall. Pale light from multiple light fixtures hanging off the ceiling show off the blue pastel walls while not making them overly obnoxious. Pictures of the staff, and old cooking tools are displayed on the walls.
To the right of the desk lays the second dining room and the third section: The smoking area. Much like the left side, the smoking area has granite tables and the white tile shared by the entire cafe It is smaller however thanks to a small bar section that takes up the back wall. Black wooden shelving holds various liquids in long bottles, showing well against the darker blue walls. The bar itself is only large enough to seat four people comfortably, and is painted to match the shelves behind it.
Between the dining rooms the fourth section awaits: the kitchen. Sectioned off at either side by black double-doors allows the creators of culinary arts privacy. The entirety of the kitchen is a white-gray, with a single red stripe circling the area. Rows of ovens, sinks, stoves, and such line the kitchen. Near the back wall is the preparation station, made of stainless steel, where food has it's finishing touches placed before being gathered up by waiters or waitresses. It is the second smallest room because between it and the waiting room is a small room with a set of staircases leading up to the second floor.
Inner Description; Second Floor:
The second floor provides the staff living quarters. A single, long hall covers the entirety of the inner edges of the building, allowing enough space to either side for rooms. The walls of the hall are two-toned, pastel red from the carpeted floor up about halfway along the wall, with white covering the wall from there up. The hallway is undecorated, made simply as a channel between living quarters. Each room is catered according to it's owner, meaning none are quite alike. The exception is the north-left corner of the second floor, which is kept for guests. The rooms, eight in total, are large enough to house two queen-size beds, a fair-sized open closet, a dresser, a desk fitted with an electric lamp, a simple table with four chairs, and a bathroom. The walls of each room shares the color scheme of the hallway, but with a different pastel color for each.
Red, green, yellow, blue, gray, orange, pink, purple, and brown; names by and for the staff based on the color each guest room is associated with.
