Woot, good news update.
Kat (our host) finally finished her previous work and has now been able to focus on our new site. How long before it's up, not sure, I just got her first email this morning.

Help find a theme guys! community.mybb.com/forum-104.html2ndly... I need help with what everyone wants as a location.... I need someone to help figure out what rules we want to set up.... there is a lot of stuff that needs to get done. I'm not going to do it all by myself. This site can sit... and sit... and sit honestly. Until I get help... I'm not doing anything. I know ya'll are busy, but so am I...I keep asking: "What do you want?" "What themes?" etc. etc. be it in chat or here. I've barely had anyone give me feedback so... WAR's personal website can just... sit... and sit... until I get feedback. I don't want to put work into something that no one seems to really care about.

Locations depend purely on whether this is another full revamp of War, or a replacing of War's domain. If we are purely changing forum scenery with this move, some of the places worth mentioning can be found on Cat's "Map Help" thread, here: war-theoneandonly.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=helpme&action=display&thread=641&page=1 If this is the case, Nathan and myself can go about describing the locations listed there as well as any others we think of as we believe they appear and then compare notes here. If the revamp is more literal I've got thoughts on that, as well. They would not fit War as it is now; it is to fleshed out despite not really being fleshed out ( ), but on a full revamp it could work with some shimmying into the mold. As for the matter of the themes.. I've looked a bit and feel a bit lost. Is there anything you have found yet that you would like to share? Is there anything in particular you want to avoid, or embrace in the theme? Also, how do you personally go about picking ones? It seems awfully tedious going through each one, but if that is what it takes I'll get to it.

I'll look at Cat's thread P: as far as if it's just a fleshing out of what has been mentioned here or a total revamp that is entirely up to you guys.
I'm doing this only because of the fact that I know it frustrates some of you that there are so little people here, I know nathan wants WAR to grow and I'm just trying to provide that chance with what knowledge I have. I can't promise it'll work, but it will certainly make things a lot nicer.
And yes... that is what trying to find a theme feels like heh... now you know why I don't want to do that by myself. heh. As far as what type of themes... any that are appealing to you that everyone agrees on. If there are specific things, they can always be coded in. I remember running across a video on youtube about how to code your own theme with myBB, I'll look at it once people give me something to work with P:

Fleshing out would be better for keeping people or bringing back people who want to come back, but a full revamp might attract new people more easily. I dunno. It isn't my place to say, either. Thank you for that. Rest assured that your work is appreciated. That you even would put effort into it like this is beyond what was ever expected of you when you came to War. It is kind. I already knew the feeling. I simply hoped you had worked out a better way to do it than I had. What sorts of specifics do you feel you can separate and add to other themes? If you can would you list some of them, besides what I feel are more obvious things like feeds, chatboxes, ect? It could help out those looking into the themes if they knew what you might be able to borrow from different themes for whatever we end up choosing. Also, once again, have you found anything yet you like? I have yet to stumble on to much besides community.mybb.com/thread-60331.html. I'll probably hold off on posting here again until I find more, unless reason demands I respond.

Don't we have a layout to use and stuff? Like I thought we had already chosen it. Im able to give some time and post some stuff but we need a layout and stuff something to give it personality.

Seeing as how we are the only three that get on anymore...I say we go ahead and do the revamp. The choices you are looking at, as Ian said is as simple as do we wish to regain old members or new ones. The ones that are here as is will most likely make the switch anyways but I dont see any point in attracting old members back that will be all for it one second and then leaving because they can the next, it needs new life. Also Ian what are you wishing to add in for a full revamp?

Unless I am mistaken, theme and layout kind of...mesh, but both are required.
Add in? It would be more wrecking the mold and starting from scratch. Alot would fly out the window, and it wouldn't be much of a stretch to call it something other than 'War'. My thoughts would require their own fleshing out, but are designed more like a book than a chatplay. History, detail, nothing/very little left in question besides the actions of those involved. It would in all likelihood be influenced pretty heavily from The Wheel of Time series as that is what I have been reading the last few months; if anyone has read or is reading them that would hint at at least the general idea. It would take more time than fleshing out War as it is now.
The danger I need to avoid is burning out on something like that, or making it to large or rigid so people don't want to get behind it. x:

yes I can carry over the colors from the invisionfree test forum if that is what you guys are set on, that's perfectly fine P: I just need to have a solid yes or no answer.
I can add background images to things to give it an "old book" feel from like an medieval spell book type of thing. I can certainly flesh it out and add some interesting places that we don't normally have here on WAR.

We all need a solid yes or no. No one seems willing to give it, because no feels they have the authority to give it. We need to fix that.
We both could. That would be very good once we decide on what exactly we are doing.

heh yeah, WAR definitely needs solid admins that can step up and tell people yes or no. Once the site is up we could launch a poll oooorr... I could do a silent nomination P: person with most votes win?

The name of the website has 'War' in it so I don't say when flashing out things we just erase War altogether, this may just be my feelings gettin in the way since I've been with it for so long. As for making new places and such do it. Kahira, feel free to do whatever needs to be done to get it up and running, you've put alot of work into and it's going to be great no matter what. Also going with what Ian has mentioned...we will need to have a basis as far as starting it out to inform everyone who joins exactly what it is they are getting into.

I figured that was how it would go, no worries. Still, to actually flesh out War as it to a more cohesive world with a properly interlaced set of races, character archetypes, powers, and beliefs, alot of things would have to be warped and changed around. The alternative, as I said before, would be to simply nail down what is what in the War we currently have. What things exist, and what don't. An average population of people in the land, what they look like and believe, how they interact with things, how they survive and prosper. Things would also have to get more consistent either way.
?
Late change; Woops, my apologies, Kahira. Somehow I missed that.. It has in the past I feel, and it certainly has need of it all again. I'd say either plan would work, but it should probably be done before the launch. We need it now, perhaps more than we will need it then when everything is in it's place.
